How to use Adobe Premiere to edit your short movie

Editing: Editing is the process of selecting and preparing written, visual, audible, and film media used to convey information.

Footage: Footage is film or video footage that can be used again in other films.

Transitions: Transition is what the author shows between two shots or clips.
1. Cut - Instant change from one shot to the next
2. Cross Fade - A gradual fade from one shot to the next
3. Wipe - One shot is progressively replaced by another shot in a geometric pattern

Audio: Recorded or produced sound

Audio Effect:  audio effect is an artificially created or enhanced sound, or sound process used to emphasize artistic or other content of films etc.
1. Compression means reducing the dynamic range of a signal.
2. Delay  — the original audio signal is followed closely by a delayed repeat, just like an echo.

Edit decision list: An edit decision list or EDL is used in the post-production process of film editing and video editing

1. Editing can create meaning in a scene as it can set the tone for the scene or film as if it was a romantic scene slow music could play in the background
2. Editing can create meaning in a scene as it can create tension or danger in a film as if it was a action movie where their was danger could have background music of bombs being hit.
3. Editing can create meaning in a scene as it sets the mood of a scene as if it was a scene for a film you might hear the noise of rain or sad music.

Comments

  1. S: you have summarised the information from the class blog very well.
I: Would you be able to give us an example of how these elements of media language create meaning in a given scene... especially in editing?
T: These examples would enable you to evidence that you know how to apply meaning with media language.
